Said the Holy One to Adam, ‘If she agrees to come back, what is made is good. For you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while I am to be the superior one.’ Lilith responded, ‘We are equal to each other inasmuch as we were both created from the earth.’ But they would not listen to one another. She said, ‘I will not lie below,’ and he said, ‘I will not lie beneath you, but only on top. Adam and Lilith immediately began to fight. Her instinct becoming primal, driving her to devour the child, unless they bore an amulet with the images of the three angels that cursed her.Īfter God created Adam, who was alone, He said, ‘It is not good for man to be alone.’ He then created a woman for Adam, from the earth, as He had created Adam himself, and called her Lilith. She was doomed to hunger whenever in the presence of a child until they reached puberty. She became the first demon, created by the hands of Lucifer’s temptation and the wrath of God. The angels took her at her word and the curse was set upon her. That if her children died, she would see that all other children born would be devoured by her unless they stopped her. In her anger, Lilith retorted that she was created to be that anyway, a monster. She would be made into a monster, a creature unable to bear normal children, only demons of sin. ![]() Finally, they told her that she would be cursed. They threatened to drown her in the sea, but still she refused. He issued a warning to Lilith, that unless she came back, she would suffer the death of 1000 of her children every day. Īdam prayed for God to return Lilith to him, prompting God to send three angels to return her to the Garden, Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof. They bore several nephilim together (as Lilith was still human and Samael. She fell in love with him, much to her own surprise. Soon after, she met the fallen angel Samael. Knowledge filled her head, worldliness and doubt as well. This was her first sin, the original sin much like the apple. Still enraged at his father’s preference for humans, Lucifer encouraged Lilith’s stubbornness and curiosity, telling her to leave if she was unhappy.įinally, in her frustrations and overpowering desire to see the outside world, Lilith left the Garden. Lilith refused to submit to Adam, lying beneath him unless there was respect, which he would not give.ĭuring this time, she witnessed Lucifer’s fall from Heaven. They argued often, even over the smallest of details, from her inquisitive nature, down to what position they would hold in sex. Her personality and Adam’s conflicted at once, as Lilith viewed herself Adam’s equal, but he was uninterested in allowing her that position of respect. She was curious to the world outside of the walls of Garden and to the angels that God had created as well. Lilith’s nature at this time was innocent, but inquisitive.
